Owls Sweep Past Pacific University

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The Oregon Tech baseball swept a non-conference doubleheader over Pacific University in Klamath Falls this afternoon at Kiger Stadium.
The Owls took game 1 by a 13-8 final behind a 14 hit attack, including two homeruns from Cory Staniforth and another by Ryson Mauricio. The Owls then came away with 11 runs on 11 hits in the nightcap to win by an 11-7 final over the Boxers. Tech's Kyle Conner and Colin Stock had three RBI apiece in the game 2 victory.
Oregon Tech jumped on PU early with a big five run 2nd inning, but the Boxers would tie it at 6-6 in the top of the 6th inning. After the Owls pushed two across in the bottom half of the 6th, it was Pacific U coming back again to tie it at 8-8. The Owls continued to swing the bats, and after a three run 7th and two run 8th inning, would win by a 13-5 final.
Tech would take a 5-3 lead in game 2 after just one inning of play. PU pulled to within a run, 7-6, but after a four run 4
th inning for the home team, the Owls were able to hold on for the 11-7 victory.
Kory Locken and Colin Stock finished the doubleheader with four hits apiece, while Stock drove in six RBI on the day. For the third time this season, Cory Staniforth had a two homerun game (game 1), while driving in four runs. Cory Spires finished 3-for-4 at the plate in the opener, with Kyle Conner 2-for-3.
Matt Bellando picked up the win in game one to improve to 4-4, while Jody Potter recorded his second save on the season. Darryl Swearingen moved to 3-0 on the season after the game 2 victory.
Oregon Tech improves to 16-14 on the year and will entertain Simpson University of Redding, Calif. in NAIA West action with doubleheaders scheduled for Saturday at noon and Sunday at 11 a.m. at Kiger Stadium.
