Lady Owls Sweep their Way into First Place

La Grande, Ore. - The Oregon Tech Lady Owls pounded out 25 hits in the two wins over Eastern Oregon University Saturday afternoon winning 11-2 and 13-0 in sweep. Oregon Tech improved to 19-6 on the season and 5-1 in Cascade Conference play. With the sweep of Eastern the Lady Owls take over sole possession of first place in the CCC standings. Eastern Oregon falls to 4-15 on the season and 1-7 in the CCC.
In Game 1: Oregon Tech’s Jackie Imhof went the distance on the mound in picking up her 8th win of the season giving up 5 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out 9 Mountaineers.
Tech got the scoreboard first in the 3rd inning scoring 6 times. Eastern answered with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the inning but Tech put the game away in the 5th scoring 5 more times to win 11-2.
Oregon Tech was led at the plate by Shauna Collins, Bree Larson and Brittany Cherry all picking up 2 hits in the game. Oregon Tech’s Taylor Schmidt hit a 3 run homerun to put the game away in the 5th in her only at bat. OIT had 9 in hits in the game.
Eastern was led by Emily Anderson who had 3 hits in the loss.
In Game 2: Tech’s Taylor Schmidt game up only 1 hit going the distance to pick up her 11th win of the season walking 3 and striking out 2.
Jess Plummer hit a Grand Slam in the 2nd inning to put OIT up 7 -0 and The Lady Owls didn’t look back blowing out the Home team 13-0 pounding out 16 hits along the way.
Tech’s Shauna Collins hit 2 homeruns leading the Hooter hitting brigade as she had 3 hits, scored 3 times with 4 RBI. Jess Plummer also had 3 hits, scored 3 times and also drove in 4 leading Tech to the win.
Andria Wheatley, Ashleigh Larson, Taylor Schmidt, and Bree Larson all added 2 hits apiece in the win.
The Lady Owls will now host Northwest Christian University in the home opener on Friday, April 1st at 2:00 pm at the Oregon Tech Softball Complex.
