Owls Sweep Four-Game series over Red Hawks

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech received strong outings from starting pitchers Dylan Bedortha and Frank Charlton to shut down Simpson University this afternoon at Kiger Stadium, sweeping the Red

Hawks 2-1 and 6-2 and take all four games of the two day series.  Bedortha went six innings, giving up four hits and one run to win 2-1, while Cory Spires added a fifth inning heroics with a solo shot that proved to be the difference.  Charlton pitched eight innings and scattered three hits in a 6-2 win in game 2. 

 

Oregon Tech moves to 20-16 on the season and distances themselves in the NAIA West South Division standings at 12-3.

 

Spires finished the afternoon with three hits, including a homerun in the opening game and a triple in the nightcap.  Kory Locken knocked in three runs on two hits, while Ryson Mauricio added a double in game 1.  Trent Smith was 2-for-4 at the plate in game 2, while Colin Stock, Kyle Hansen and Cory Staniforth each doubled.
