04.01.2010
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Oregon Tech head men’s basketball coach, Danny Miles, will be honored with an award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Sunday, April 4, at the AT&T NABC Guardians of the Game Awards Show at the Murat Centre in Indianapolis beginning at 6 p.m. (EDT).
Miles will receive the NABC Honor award for passing the 900-career win mark during this remarkable 2009-10 season for Oregon Tech. The Hustlin’ Owls went 30-5 on the year, winning the regular season Cascade Conference championship and their second consecutive Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament. Oregon Tech also made a “Sweet 16” appearance at the 2010 NAIA Division II national tournament, while setting a school record with 38-straight home victories. Miles currently has 906 victories in his career heading into the 2010-11 season – all at Oregon Institute of Technology.
Miles will join other honor award recipients Jim Boeheim, Syracuse (800 wins); Herb Magee, Philadelphia (900 wins); and Harry Statham, McKendree (1,000 wins). All four have only coached at one institution.
There will be a one-hour recap of the show on CBS College Sports on Monday at 7 p.m. (EDT). CBS Sports Personality Tim Brando is the host.
