After the Owls trailed 3-0 in the opener, Tech shortstop Zack Earle hit a solo shot in the sixth inning that accounted for OIT’s only run of game 1.  Yote relief pitcher Chad Yeggy worked out of a bases loaded, one-out jam, picking up a five-out save and holding the Owls without a run for the remainder.

Ryson Mauricio, Kory Locken and Earle had two hits each in the opener, while Tech pitcher Frank Charlton went 6.1 innings and gave up three run to drop to 4-5 on the season.

Game 2 the two teams combined for five home runs, including solo homeruns from Tech’s Cory Spires, Colin Stock and Mauricio.  Mauricio added a double in the nightcap to total four hits on the day.

Oregon Tech trailed 6-1 heading into the fourth inning, but would pull to within a run at 6-5 after a four run fourth inning.  Colin Stock led off the inning with a homerun, while Phil Sacks capped it off with a double that scored a run to cut the Owl deficit to 6-5.

The Yotes offense proved to much, and after a three run fifth inning took back control of game 2 and moved on for a 10-6 win to sweep the four-game series.

Oregon Tech pounded out 13 hits in the nightcap, including a 3-for-4 effort from Cory Spires.

The Owls drop to 20-18 on the year and 12-7 in the NAIA West standings.  Tech will host Bethany University of Scotts Valley, Calif. in the last of their regular season home schedule with doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday at Kiger Stadium.
