Owl Duo Earns Cascade Conference Honors

PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon Tech junior infielder Brad Walters (Gresham, Ore.) and senior catcher Kayde Schaefer (Beaverton, Ore.) earned Cascade Collegiate Conference honors in their respective sports, the league office announced Monday. Schaefer was named CCC Softball Player of the Week and Walters earned CCC Baseball Player of the Week.

 

In four Cascade Conference games played in Klamath Falls versus Northwest Christian University and Corban University, Schaefer was 7-of-9 (.778) at the plate, with one double, two homeruns and eight runs batted in. Schaefer had a grand slam in a 13-5 victory over Corban, while also scoring six runs on the week.  Oregon Tech improved to 23-6 overall and continues to lead the CCC with a 9-1 mark.  The Owls host Southern Oregon University in CCC action Wednesday, April 6th, with the doubleheader beginning at noon.

 

In four non-conference games versus Lewis & Clark College played at Kiger Stadium in Klamath Falls, Walters batted .571 after an 8-of-14 effort at the plate.  Walters drove in nine runs as the Owls posted a 3-1 record over L&C this past weekend. Of Walters’ eight hits, six went for extra bases, including three home runs and three doubles.  Oregon Tech (12-18) will host Simpson University Wednesday, April 6th, in a NAIA West doubleheader scheduled for 1 p.m. at Kiger Stadium.
