Lady Owls Split Double-Dip At Eastern Oregon

La Grande, Oregon (April 5, 2007) --- #14 Oregon Tech lost a heartbreaker 1-0 before bouncing back to whip Eastern Oregon 10-2 (6) in doubleheader softball action Friday afternoon in La Grande.
Eastern Oregon pitcher Melodee Mildenberger tossed a four hit shutout while teammate Lydia Holm stroked a homerun in the bottom of the fourth inning to give EOU (11-12, 3-5) the win over the #14 Oregon Tech Lady Owls.
Oregon Tech pitcher Jenni Bittle also tossed a four-hitter but hung a three-two curve ball to Holm who drilled the ball over the left field fence.
Kelsi Haylett had two hits for Tech in game one while Holm did the same for Eastern Oregon.
Bittle got revenge in game two by hitting her second home run of the season, a three-run shot in the second inning to give OIT (23-5-1, 5-3) a commanding 6-1 lead on the way to the 10-2 (6) win in the nightcap.
Bittle was the only Owl with multiple hits (two) in the second contest. Mildenberger and Iris Woodhead each had two hits for the Montaineers in the second contest.
Keri Gesner (8-1) tossed a six hitter giving up one earned run over the six innings. Kelly West (4-5) was saddled with the loss.
Oregon Tech will be at Albertson (22-7, 7-1) Saturday for a doubleheader. Tech trails the league-leading Yotes by two games. Albertson is currently on a nine game win streak. The games can be heard on the Albertson web at http://www.albertson.edu/athlete/caa/radio.htm beginning at 19 a.m PDT.
