Oregon Tech Splits with Willamette University

SALEM, Ore. – After scoring just a single run in each game of yesterday’s doubleheader, Oregon Tech erupted for 16 runs on the day and managed to split today’s twin bill versus Willamette University in non-conference baseball action today at John Lewis Field.
Tech took game 1 by a 13-8 final, while falling 9-3 in the nightcap to the Bearcats. The Owls moved to 13-23 overall and resume NAIA west action with a 2-8 record when they travel to Redding, Calif. to take on Simpson University this Friday and Saturday.
Oregon Tech trailed 5-0 after three innings in the opener, but tied the score with five runs in the fifth-inning and moved into the lead for good with a three run sixth-inning.
Colin Stock and Hayden Wolfe each homered and finished with four hits each in the opening game, with Wolfe driving in five runs. Brad Walters and Tommy Wood recorded three hits and two RBI apiece, with Walters adding the third homerun for the Owls.
Matt Bellando pitched six innings to earn his fourth win of the season, while Zack O’Hanen earned his third save of the year going the final three innings in relief. Bellando allowed six hits and struck out three, while O’Hanen recorded three strikeouts in the win.
Oregon Tech managed just four hits in the nightcap with Stock connecting for his second homerun of the day, and seventh of the year, while Kory Locken, Ryan Hayden and Trent Smith recorded singles in the game. Walters added an RBI on a sacrifice fly.
