Simpson Sweeps Oregon Tech

Redding, Ca. – Simpson University swept a NAIA West South Division doubleheader from Oregon Tech 5-1 and 7-5 at Tiger Field. Oregon Tech falls to 13-25 on the season and 2-10 in conference play. Simpson improves to 11-23 on the season and 9-11 in the South.

In game 1: Oregon Tech got on the scoreboard first in the 4th inning on 2 hits to take a 1-0 lead. Simpson answered quickly scoring 3 times in the bottom of the 4th and added 2 more runs in the 6th to win 5-1.

Tech only managed 4 hits off Simpson starter Brad Hurn who went the distance striking out 9.

Oregon Tech’s Craig Kathol picked up the loss dropping to 0-2 on the season.

In game 2: Oregon Tech out-hit Simpson 10-9 but 3 errors cost Tech the win as the Red Hawks scored 3 unearned runs to win 7-5.

Colin Stock led the Tech offense with 2-hits.

Tech’s Matt Bellando pitched the first 5-innings giving up just 1-earned run and 4-hits. Zach O’Hanen picked up the loss for the Hustlin’ Owls giving up 3-runs in just 2/3 of an inning.

The two teams are scheduled for a double-header on Sunday in Redding beginning at 4:00 pm.
