Simpson Completes Weekend Sweep of Tech

Redding, CA – Playing a late afternoon double-header after finishing up a protested game from the day before didn’t help Oregon Tech any as the Hustlin Owls got swept by Simpson University 3-2 and 10-8. Simpson is now 6-0 against Oregon Tech this season and improved to 13-23 overall and 11-11 in Conference play. Oregon Tech drops to 13-27 on the season and 2-12 in NAIA West South Division play.
The two teams will wrap up their season series this Wednesday in Klamath Falls at 1:00 pm at Historic Kiger Stadium.
In game 1: Tech took the early lead scoring 1 run in the 2nd inning and held the 1-0 lead until Simpson tied the game in the 6th.
Tech went back on top 2-1 in the top of the 7th but the Red Hawks won the game as Joshua Riley hit a bases loaded pinch hit single scoring the game winner with 2 outs.
Dylan Rogers had 2 hits to lead Tech in the loss with Angel Marti and Garrett Barnett each having 2 hits to lead Simpson.
In game 2: Oregon Tech exploded for 13 hits and 8 runs but it wasn’t enough as Simpson answered 10 runs on 7 hits taking advantage of 5 Oregon Tech errors to win 10-8.
Trent Smith and Ryan Hayden each had 3 hits for Oregon Tech as Hayden also homered. Kory Locken and Colin Stock also contributed 2 hits each in the loss.
Garrett Barnett and Josh Corson led Simpson with 2 hits each in the win.
