Swanson Wins Javelin, Conditt Qualifies for NAIA National Meet

DAVIS, Calif. - Oregon Tech’s Joelle Swanson’s individual title in the javelin highlighted an outstanding day for a handful Owls at the annual Woody Wilson Classic held Saturday afternoon. The meet attracted more than 900 competitors to the UC Davis campus.
Swanson’s toss of 129-07 in the javelin was a B qualifier for the NAIA national meet and ranked the freshman eighth all-time at Oregon Tech.
Kassi Conditt earned her second trip to the NAIA national meet, as the sophomore finished 4th place in the shot put with a mark of 42-09.75.
In just her first season of collegiate competition, Tech freshman Mary Matchett is now second all-time at Oregon Tech in the 800 meter race. Matchett timed in at 2:17.72 on Saturday, and is now just 1.72 seconds shy from a national B qualifier.
