EUGENE, Ore. -The Beacons of Northwest Christian were swept by Oregon Tech, 6-1 and 7-2 in Cascade Conference action. Oregon Tech improves to 19-16 and 9-9 in the CCC. The Beacons fall to 12-17 and 5-15 in the CCC.
Becca Anderson (11-5) took to the circle for Oregon Tech, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out four batters in a complete game effort. Brittany Warren was 3-for-4 at the dish with an RBI and Kayde Shaefer, hitting out of the nine-hole, added a pair of doubles for OIT.
The Beacons had managed just six hits in game one, but were able to double that total in game two and they outhit Oregon Tech, 12-9. The Beacons, however, left 6 runners on base in the game and twice had a runner on third base with less than two outs and were unable to bring in a run.
The only runs for NCU were scored in the bottom of the seventh inning on a two-run homer by Bishop, that also scored Corrie Gustafson. Bishop went 3-for-4 in the game while Gustafson and Robles each went 2-for-4. Bishop now has 15 extra-base hits on the season (10 doubles, 1 triple, 4 home runs) which ties her own best mark, set as a freshman last season. She is just three extra base hits shy of breaking NCU's single-season record.
Amber Knight (4-4) threw a complete game for Oregon Tech, allowing two runs on 12 hits with three strikeouts to pick up the victory. Brooke Davis (6-10) threw a complete-game for the Beacons and allowed six earned runs on nine hits, striking out six batters
The Owls (19-16, 9-9 CCC) were led in the second game by Sunceray Titus, who batted 2-for-4 with a run and four RBI, hitting a three-run homer in the sixth inning. Ashleigh Larson was also 2-for-4 and scored two runs.
Oregon Tech travels to Southern Oregon to take on the Raiders in Ashland on Tuesday before wrapping up the regular season at home next Friday and Saturday against Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho respectively.
