Sentman and Schelb Lead Oregon Tech at Oregon-California Border Clash

ARCATA, Calif. — Oregon Tech javelin throwers had another good day. Sarah Schelb and Bryant Sentman each won the event Saturday at the Oregon-California Border Clash hosted by Humboldt State University.

 

Schelb threw the javelin 155 feet, 10 inches to win the event comfortably over teammate Alyssa McClellan. McClellan was second at 124-2 in the event that saw teammates Tracy Filley finish fourth and Kaitlyn Paige seventh.

 

In the men’s javelin, Sentman threw a career best 203-5, which now is the fifth best throw among all NAIA javelin throwers this season. There are seven throwers who have gone over 200 feet this season.

OIT’s Trevor Lundsten was third at 186-5, 17th best in NAIA, and Brian Keebler fourth at 171-2.

 

Sentman also was second in the high jump at 6-6, six inches behind winner Ryan Bertucci of CSU-C.

 

OIT’s other individual event winner was Jesten Brenner in the men’s shot put, with a toss of 43-6. Sentman was sixth.

 

In other men’s events, OIT’s Derek Larman was second in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump, with teammate Jordan Brewster third in the triple jump, while Seth Hernandez was second in the 800-meter run and Rey Chavolla was third in the 200.

 

For the OIT women, Nikki Smith was second in the 100 and 400 hurdles, while Tracy Filley placed third in the high jump.
