Cherry Earns Softball Player of the Week Honor

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Brittany Cherry, a senior outfielder from Pasco, Wash. has been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference softball Player of the Week announced today by the league office.

Cherry’s game 1 heroics lifted the Owls to the 2011 CCC championship after a late inning grand slam gave Oregon Tech a 6-3 win over Corban University on Friday.  In six games played on the week, Cherry batted .588 after a 10-for-17 effort at the plate, while totaling nine RBI and three runs, including a double, triple, homerun, walk and stolen base.

In 30 games on the season, Cherry leads the Owls in batting (.423), while ranking fifth in batting average in the CCC.

Oregon Tech clinched the outright Cascade Collegiate Conference regular season title and the No. 1 seed in this year's CCC Championship tournament that will be played in Klamath Falls on May 6th and 7th.  The CCC tournament will feature the top three finishers in the CCC's regular season standings with the tournament champion earning the conference's automatic bid to the NAIA Championships on May 19-25 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
