Owls Preparing for Cascade Conference Meet

EUGENE, Ore. - Gearing up for the Cascade Collegiate Conference championships in Portland May 7th-9th, the Oregon Tech track and field team made its way to Hayward Field in Eugene for the Oregon Relays on Saturday.
Brianne Kenyon led the Owl women with three top-8 finishes, including a second in the discus with a 131-00 toss. Kenyon also went 41-05.75 in the shot put and 129-06 in the hammer. Sarah Schelb threw the javelin 134-2, followed by a 127-7 toss by Blair Wilkenson.
The running events had LaShell Larman in the 100 (13.36s) and 200 (26.40s), Nikki Smith ran both the 100 hurdles (15.20s) and 400 hurdles (64.75s), Rachel Novak the 800 (2:29.43) and the 4x400 relay team of Kelly Hawkins, Kaela Ash, Larman and Smith (4:13.02).
In the men's field events, Bryant Sentman brought home a top-8 finish with a jump of 6-03.50, while Kyle Gomez threw 164-06 in the javelin and Joel Matchett went a distance of 44-08.75 in the triple jump. In the 5,000 run, it was Korey Humberston crossing the finish line in a time of 15:21.54.
Next up, the Owls will host the Oregon Tech-Southern Oregon Dual on Wednesday, April 29th beginning at 4:30 pm at John F. Moehl Stadium.
