Oregon Tech to Host CCC Softball Tournament

LA GRANDE, Ore. – An automatic berth in the NAIA Softball National Championships awaits the winner of this weekend’s Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament hosted by Oregon Tech.

The three-team CCC tournament gets underway Friday at noon with second-seeded Concordia (24-20, 15-9 CCC) playing third-seeded Corban (30-12, 15-9) in an elimination game. The winner moves on to face regular season conference champion Oregon Tech (37-7, 20-4) in a best of three series. The first game of the best-of-three series is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Friday. The series will continue at noon on Saturday, with a deciding game to follow, if necessary.

Oregon Tech won the CCC regular season title for the second straight season. The Owls won the conference tournament last season, before winning the national tournament. Corban and Concordia meet in the opening game for the second straight season. Corban was the second seed in 2011, while Concordia was the three seed. The NAIA Softball National Championships are scheduled to begin May 17 in Gulf Shores, Ala.

The CCC Tournament schedule:

Friday, May 4 (at Klamath Falls)

Game 1:  No. 2 seed (Concordia) vs. No. 3 Seed (Corban), noon

Game 2:  Winner Game 1 vs. No. 1 Seed (Oregon Tech), 3 p.m.

Saturday, May 5 (at Klamath Falls)

Game 3:  Winner Game 1 vs. No. 1 Seed (Oregon Tech), noon

Game 4:  Winner Game 1 vs. No. 1 Seed (Oregon Tech) *30 minutes following Game 3
