Oregon Tech’s Imhof Selected Pitcher of Year; 5 Owls Named First Team; Stewart Earns 4th Coach of the Year Award

PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon Tech senior Jackie Imhof was chosen as the Pitcher of the Year.  The Portland, Ore., native led the CCC with 197 strike-outs, 17 wins and topped all hurlers with 31 appearances (22 starts) and 150 innings pitched. She also was the best in saves with four.

For the fourth time in his seven seasons at the helm of the Oregon Tech Owls, Greg Stewart was chosen as CCC Coach  

of the Year by a vote of his peers.  The Texas native led his team to 33 wins this season and the No. 1 seed in this weekend’s CCC tournament.  The Owls are currently ranked No. 19 in the latest NAIA coaches poll and were ranked has high as No. 17. Heading into this weekend’s action, Stewart has amassed 217 wins and a winning percentage of .671.

Corban University may be the No. 2 seed in this weekend’s Cascade Collegiate Conference softball tournament, but they will be boasting the CCC’s best player, as the Warriors’ Stephanie Nippert was selected as the 2011 CCC Player of the Year, according to a vote of the league’s head coaches.

In her 39 games for the Warriors, Nippert led the conference in homers (18), total hits (58), runs batted in (50), total bases (122), stolen bases (21) and slugging percentage (.976). The sophomore outfielder from Rocklin, Calif., is ranked in the NAIA top-5 in six different categories: first in fielding (1.000), second in home runs per game (.462), third in slugging pct. (.976), fourth in homers (18) and fourth in total bases per game (3.1).

College of Idaho freshman Nickayla Skinner was named Newcomer of the Year. The Mountain Home, Idaho pitcher won 15 games in 145 innings while striking out 166. All those numbers were second behind Oregon Tech’s Imhof.
