Oregon Tech set to host 2012 Conference Track & Field Championships

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –Oregon Tech will serve as host of the 2012 Cascade Collegiate Conference Track & Field Championships, as the conference meet will get underway in Klamath Falls, Ore. May 10th through the 12th

The CCC Meet, held at John F. Moehl Stadium on the campus of Oregon Institute of Technology, will have 10 schools competing for individual and team qualification to the 2012 NAIA Track & Field National Championship on May 24-26 in Marion, Ind.

The meet opens on Thursday, May 10th at 5 p.m. with the women’s hammer and men’s long jump.  Friday begins at 3 p.m. with the women’s pole vault, men’s triple jump and men’s discus.  Saturday kicks-off at 11 a.m. with the women’s javelin, men’s shot put and men’s pole vault with the meet concluding at 3:10 p.m. with the men’s 4x400 relay.

Concordia earned their sixth consecutive men’s team championship in 2011, holding off Southern Oregon University by just .5 points. CU finished with 192.5 points, while the Raiders ended with 192. Warner Pacific finished a program best 3rd place at 106.5 points, while the Owl men placed 6th with 54.5 points.

The Concordia women claimed their fifth consecutive championship trophy behind 11 individual champions in 2011, eventually moving on to earn the 2011 NAIA National Championship last year.  Eastern Oregon finished in the runner-up spot in conference action, while Oregon Tech placed 5th with 76 team points.

The 2012 CCC championship will return 13 individual champions from previous years, with a total of 14 meet records falling during last year’s competition.
