Staniforth named to NAIA West team, Locken Gold Glove award

PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon Tech utility player Cory Staniforth (Central Point, Ore.) was named to the NAIA West All-Region baseball team, as announced by the conference office this afternoon.

Nine schools from Oregon, California, Idaho and British Columbia make up the NAIA West Region grouping. Staniforth was the only member from the 2010 Oregon Tech team to be named to the NAIA West Region Team,

while sophomore teammate Kory Locken (Phoenix, Ore.) received a Gold Glove Award for his efforts on the defensive end.

Kory Locken was selected a Gold Glove recipient for his defensive effort in the outfield.

Staniforth batted .295 for Tech this season, including 54 hits and ended the year with a team-high .607 slugging percentage. Staniforth tied for the team lead in doubles (16), while leading the Owls in the homerun category (13), and drove in a team-high 52 runs.

Locken batted .317 with eight doubles and one homerun, while stealing a team-high 16 bases for the Owls in 2010.
