MARION, Ind. – Tech sophomore Kassi Conditt hit her best mark in the shot put on her second try this afternoon at the 2012 NAIA National Track & Field Championships, but it wasn’t quite enough to get her into the top 8.

Conditt placed 12th out of the field of 25 participants with a distance of 43-07.25.  The distance was nearly four inched further than last year’s 7th place finish at the national meet for Conditt.  Brittany Erdmann of Concordia, Neb. Placed 8th with a mark of 45-00.25, in the competition won by Kayla Xavier of Concordia, Ore.  Xavier defended her title from 2011 with a mark of 50-10.00. The top 8 in the competition earn NAIA All-American status.

Oregon Tech distance runners Scott Minor and Kirby Garlitz, the last two Oregon Tech athletes to compete this weekend, begin the marathon competition at 6 a.m. on Saturday morning.
