Three From Track & Field Earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The NAIA has announced that 362 women’s and 243 men’s track and field student-athletes have been named 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Three Oregon Tech athletes made the list, as senior Gerald Davis (Bandon, Ore.), along with juniors Scott Minor (Hyampton, Calif.) and Katie Waugh (Klamath Falls, Ore.) earned the award. Davis is a two-time recipient while Waugh and Minor are first-time Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes award winners in track and field, having both earned the award in cross country in the fall.
Scholar-Athletes in the sport of baseball will be announced in early June.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
