Ken Coffman resigns cross country post at Oregon Tech

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Oregon Tech Athletic Director Mike Schell has announced that head cross country coach, Ken Coffman, has resigned his position.
Coffman, who has coached both the cross country and track and field programs at Oregon Tech, spent 12 seasons in dual roles for the Owls. Coffman will continue his position as head track and field coach for the Owls, a role he has held since 1996, but decided to step away from cross country.

Assistant Oregon Tech cross country and track and field coach, Grier Gatlin, has been named interim head cross country coach for the upcoming 2010 year. Gatlin will continue recruiting duties, while also maintaining his role as assistant track and field coach for the upcoming 2011 season.
"Ken has been an outstanding coach and mentor for all our cross country athletes over the past 12 years,” said Schell. “Ken will now be able to focus more of his time with the track and field program.” Schell continued. “Grier has an outstanding background in the area of recruiting and with coaching distance runners, and am pleased he chose to take over the cross country program for us.”
