KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech head volleyball coach, Jason Corwin, announced today the signing of Kayleigh Whelchel of McMinnville, Ore. to a letter of intent.  The 5-7 setter from Sheridan High School will join the Owl squad this fall.

Whelchel competed four years for the Spartans, leading SHS to four-straight top-7 finishes in the 3A State Tournament.  Whelchel helped Sheridan High to a 3A State title in 2008, while finishing fourth at the state tournament in both 2007 and 2009.  Whelchel was a two-time West Valley first team selection, while also being named to the second team All-State squad in 2008 and 2009.

“With her ability to play several positions, Kayleigh will bring a lot of versatility to our program, said Corwin. “We are excited about the energy, hard work and dedication she has, but most importantly is how she makes her teammates better players as well.”

Whelchel will major in Medical Imaging Technology beginning this fall, and is the daughter of Jack and Teresa Whelchel of McMinnville, Ore.
