LA GRANDE, Ore. – Coming off a 13-12 overall mark in 2011, along with a 6th place finish (7-11 CCC) in conference play, the Oregon Tech volleyball team was picked 7th in the 2012 Cascade Collegiate Conference preseason poll.  The College of Idaho claimed all 10 first-place votes, and is a unanimous choice among the league’s head coaches to repeat as the CCC champion in volleyball.

Southern Oregon was picked to finish second, followed by Eastern Oregon and Concordia (Ore.) to round out the top four.

Northwest (Wash.), Northwest Christian (Ore.) and Oregon Tech crowd the center of the poll while Corban (Ore.), Warner Pacific (Ore.) and Evergreen (Wash.) fill the final three spots.
The College of Idaho captured the regular season CCC title last season, and has claimed league titles in three of the past four years.  C of I is coming off a season with an overall record of 27-5 and 17-1 in CCC action.

Southern Oregon, picked second, is coming off of a 23-6 (overall) and 16-2 (CCC) record. The Raiders won the CCC Tournament title in 2011.

Eastern Oregon returns eight players from last year’s squad that went 17-11 overall and 15-3 in conference play.

The top six teams in the CCC’s final regular season standings will earn spots in the conference’s postseason tournament, which begins Nov. 6. The regular season champion and the runner-up will earn a berth in the tournament semifinals against the winner of the quarterfinals, which matches the No. 3 and 6 seeds and the 4 and 5 seeds. Quarterfinals will be held on campus sites while the regular season champion will host the semifinals and finals. The CCC’s tournament champion will earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships, which begin Nov. 17.
