Oregon Tech Announces 2011 Fall Sports Schedule

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore – The Oregon Tech athletic department has announced their upcoming 2011 fall sports schedule for volleyball and men’s and women’s soccer teams.

Senior setter Sarah Svedin will look to lead the Owls into the 2011 season.

The Owls begin their 27-match volleyball slate with the first five matches on the road. Oregon Tech opens the 2011 season at Southern Oregon University in Ashland on August, 20^th with a contest against reigning NAIA National Champion Fresno Pacific University – the Sunbirds of the Golden State Athletic Conference have won four consecutive NAIA National Championships. The Owls continue the 2011 campaign in California against Cal Pac members William Jessup University, Pacific Union College and Menlo College, along with another GSAC power, Azusa Pacific, during the four-day span from August 24^th-27^th. Oregon Tech opens its home schedule with a non-league match versus Simpson University on Monday, Aug. 29^th, while Cascade Conference play kicks-off at home versus arch rival Southern Oregon University on Wednesday, Aug. 31^st.

The Tech men’s soccer team will look to improve on a 6-10-2 mark when they open the 2011 season with a six-game homestand beginning with Bethesda Christian University at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 25^th. The Owls then play host to George Fox University on September 2^nd and Linfield College September, 10^th, both NCAA III opponents. Two of the final three games of the six-game stand are conference affairs, beginning with Northwest University on Tuesday, September 13^th, while Tech will take on Cal Pac foe Simpson University on Wednesday, September 14^th in a non-conference game. The Owls close out the stand with another CCC game on Saturday, September 17^th versus Northwest Christian University before continuing conference action in Portland the following weekend. All home games will be played at the Steen Sports Complex.

Senior Brooke Cole returns as a two-time second-team all-conference defender for Oregon Tech.

The Oregon Tech women’s soccer team is coming off a 10-7 overall mark, including a 5-4 record in Cascade Collegiate Conference play in 2010. The Owl women begin the 2011 campaign with nine of the first 11 contests at home. Prior to the 2011 season opener on Monday, August 22^nd versus The Masters College, Tech coach Bryan Mueller is putting together the first-ever Alumni Game beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 20^th. All of September is devoted to non-conference games beginning with Linfield College on Saturday, September 3^rd and concluding on Sunday, September 25^th against Great Falls University at 2 p.m. Tech will open Cascade Collegiate Conference play at home when the Owls host perennial power Concordia University Saturday, October 1^st, along with Warner Pacific College on Monday, October 3^rd. All home games will be played at the Steen Sports Complex.
