Oregon Tech Announces 2011 Fall Sports Schedule

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore – The Oregon Tech athletic department has announced their upcoming 2011 fall sports schedule for volleyball and men’s and women’s soccer teams.

The Owls begin their 27-match volleyball slate with the first five matches on the road. Oregon Tech opens the 2011 season at Southern Oregon University in Ashland on August, 20th with a contest against reigning NAIA National Champion Fresno Pacific University – the Sunbirds of the Golden State Athletic Conference have won four consecutive NAIA National Championships. The Owls continue the 2011 campaign in California against Cal Pac members William Jessup University, Pacific Union College and Menlo College, along with another GSAC power, Azusa Pacific, during the four-day span from August 24th-27th. Oregon Tech opens its home schedule with a non-league match versus Simpson University on Monday, Aug. 29th, while Cascade Conference play kicks-off at home versus arch rival Southern Oregon University on Wednesday, Aug. 31st.

The Tech men’s soccer team will look to improve on a 6-10-2 mark when they open the 2011 season with a six-game homestand beginning with Bethesda Christian University at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 25th. The Owls then play host to George Fox University on September 2nd and Linfield College September, 10th, both NCAA III opponents.  Two of the final three games of the six-game stand are conference affairs, beginning with Northwest University on Tuesday, September 13th, while Tech will take on Cal Pac foe Simpson University on Wednesday, September 14th in a non-conference game.  The Owls close out the stand with another CCC game on Saturday, September 17th versus Northwest Christian University before continuing conference action in Portland the following weekend.   All home games will be played at the Steen Sports Complex.

The Oregon Tech women’s soccer team is coming off a 10-7 overall mark, including a 5-4 record in Cascade Collegiate Conference play in 2010.   The Owl women begin the 2011 campaign with nine of the first 11 contests at home.  Prior to the 2011 season opener on Monday, August 22nd versus The Masters College, Tech coach Bryan Mueller is putting together the first-ever Alumni Game beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 20th.  All of September is devoted to non-conference games beginning with Linfield College on Saturday, September 3rd and concluding on Sunday, September 25th against Great Falls University at 2 p.m.  Tech will open Cascade Collegiate Conference play at home when the Owls host perennial power Concordia University Saturday, October 1st, along with Warner Pacific College on Monday, October 3rd.  All home games will be played at the Steen Sports Complex.
