OIT 7th in CCC Preseason Volleyball Poll- College of Idaho, Southern Rated 1-2

PORTLAND, Ore. – College of Idaho, which has won or shared the last five Cascade Collegiate Conference regular season crowns, is a solid favorite to claim its sixth straight in 2011.
In a preseason poll of the conference’s 10 head coaches, the Yotes earned eight first-place votes and totaled 98 points. Southern Oregon, which has shared three of the last four regular season crowns with C of I, picked up the other two first-place votes and finished with 91 points.
Concordia totaled 75 points and is predicted to finish third. The Cavaliers were followed by Northwest (74), Eastern Oregon (59), Corban (48), Oregon Tech (38), Northwest Christian (32), Warner Pacific (21) and Evergreen (14).
The Owls begin their 27-match volleyball slate with the first five matches on the road. Oregon Tech opens the 2011 season at Southern Oregon University in Ashland with a contest against reigning NAIA National Champion Fresno Pacific University – the Sunbirds of the Golden State Athletic Conference have won four consecutive NAIA National Championships.
The CCC’s conference season gets underway Sept. 9. The top four teams qualify for the CCC’s postseason tournament, which will be hosted by the regular season champion. The winner of the CCC Tournament will earn the league’s automatic bid to the NAIA Championships, which get underway Nov. 19.
