(Ashland, Ore.)  â€“ The Oregon Tech volleyball team opened up the 2010 season with a 21-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-23 non-conference victory over Simpson University in the second match of the Paul Elliott Invitational Tournament being played on the campus of Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon.

 

Oregon Tech improves to 1-0 on the season as first year head coach Jason Corwin picked up the first collegiate win of his coaching career. The road gets a lot tougher for Oregon Tech as they will take on the defending National Champions and the unanimous pre-season number 1 team in the nation Fresno Pacific at 5:30pm tonight.  Simpson University slips to 0-1 on the season with the loss.

  

Megan Christensen and Jennifer Saltenberger led the Oregon Tech attach with 10 kills apiece in the win with Sarah Svedin setting up the Tech attack with 33 set assists. Mikayla Morgan led Oregon Tech with 15 digs and chipped in 7 Kills with Mindy Rencher also scoring 7 kills in her debut with Oregon Tech.

 

The Red Hawks came out of the gates on fire winning the first set 25-21 as they took advantage of some early Oregon Tech errors.

  

The Hustlin’ Owls would bounce back to win the next three sets 25-19, 25-16, and 25-23 to take the match three games to one.
