Owls settle for Split in day 2 of SOU Invite

ASHLAND, Ore. - The Oregon Tech volleyball team moved to 2-2 on the year after a day 2 split at the Southern Oregon University Invitational tournament in Ashland. The Owls fell in three-straight to Embry Riddle, Fla. (25-19, 25-21, 25-16), but were able to bounce back to defeat Western Montana 3-2 ( 26-24, 25-22, 18-25, 18-25, 15-12) in the evening contest.
Megan Christensen (Sr. Klamath Falls, Ore.) finished the day with 20 kills, including four aces and seven digs in the victory over MWU. Mikayla Morgan (Sr. Klamath Falls, Ore.) tied with a match-high 11 kills, while Mindy Rencher (Jr. Idaho Falls, Idaho) tallied nine kills also in the win. Setters Sarah Svedin (Jr. Palmer, Alaska) and Kayleigh Whelchel (Fr. Sheridan, Ore.) combined for 40 assists and 15 digs in the win, while Hannah Brewster (So. Medford, Ore.) came away with a team-high 21 digs for Tech on the day.
The Owls will take a 2-2 record to California this week for a six-match road swing that will include four teams versus NAIA institutions in the Cal Pac Conference. The Owls begin with a match in Rocklin, Calif. on Wednesday against William Jessup University beginning at 6 PM.
