Volleyball Falls to 0-3 with Loss at SOU

ASHLAND, ORE (Aug. 22, 2009) Oregon Tech(0-3) fell in three sets in the final day of the Raider Classic as Southern Oregon hit .410 as a team and cruised to a 25-14, 25-18, 25-14 sweep.

Junior Leanne Stennett led SOU with 11 kills and junior Chelsea Hartman finished with 10. Freshman setter Caryn Westrick had a match-high 22 assists and Angela Spieker finished with 18. Becky Johnstone had a match-high 17 digs and Stennett added 10 for a double-double.

The Raiders went on a 10-3 run to blow open the first set and set the tone for the match. In the second set, SOU hit .609, with 16 kills and only two errors in 23 attempts. SOU put the match away in the third set with a 10-1 run that featured three kills by Hartman.

Oregon Tech's Megan Christensen (Jr. Klamath Falls, Ore) led the Owls with 9 Kills. Sophomore Setter Jackie Polette (Helena, Mont.) had 11 set assists to lead Oregon Tech.

Tech will travel to San Diego, California and play in the Point Loma Invitational next Friday with games against Mount Vernon, Point Loma and The Masters beginning at 9:00 AM
