Freshman Trio Lead Owls to Victory Over Simpson

REDDING, Calif. – Oregon Tech moved to 4-3 on the season after defeating Simpson University in a see-saw five-set battle 3-2, (25-27, 26-24, 23-25, 31-29, 15-7) in non-conference volleyball action this afternoon in Redding.

Oregon Tech next travels to UC-Merced for a four-match tournament beginning Friday.

A trio of freshman led the Oregon Tech offense, including 18 kills from Kara Young.  Marley Smith added 11 kills and 27 digs, while Krista Galloway hit at a .462 clip recording 8 kills.  Setter Kayleigh Whelchel recorded a career-high 51 assists and Marie Baumann 37 digs to anchor the Owl defense.
