Oregon Tech Sweeps Pacific Union, Falls to No. 6 Azusa Pacific

ANGWIN, Calif. – The Oregon Tech volleyball team swept past host Pacific Union College (25-17, 25-12, 25-13) in the early match, but could not get by sixth-ranked Azusa Pacific in match two (25-21, 25-13, 25-12), dropping their first match of 2011, and now sits at 3-1 on the season.
In two matches, senior outside hitter Joey Parnell finished the day with 16 kills, with just two hitting errors, in four sets played. Kayleigh Whelchel came away with 18 assists and 10 digs, while Marie Baumann added 19 digs for Tech.
Oregon Tech remains idle on Friday before meeting up with Menlo College in Atherton, Calif. on Saturday beginning at 6 p.m.
The Owls open the 2011 home campaign versus Simpson University at 3 p.m. on Monday, August 29th, before opening conference play versus arch-rival Southern Oregon University on Wednesday, August 31st, at Danny Miles Court beginning at 7 p.m.
