Oregon Tech Men Fall 2-0 in Season Opener

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Oregon Tech men’s soccer team dropped their season opener falling 2-0 to Bethesda University today at Trevor Derrah Field at the Steen Sports Complex in Klamath Falls. Oregon Tech falls to 0-1 with the loss.
After a scoreless first half, the Flames took a 1-0 lead in the 58th minute when Hwanhee You took a cross from Daniel Carrillo and scored the eventual game winner from 10 yards out.
Bethesda controlled possession for the next 15 minutes before taking a 2-0 lead after a perfectly played corner kick from Gustavo Wagner found the foot of Daniel Carrillo who finished the volley with a hard shot to the lower left of the Owl net.
For the game the Flames out shot Tech 20-4 and held a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Colton Grytness led the Owl offensive effort with two shots, both on goal. Defensively, Loren Jessen picked up the loss as he had 8 saves between the pipes.
Bethesda keeper HyeoCkjin Choi was credited with three saves in picking up the shut-out win.
Oregon Tech will next host NCAA Division III Linfield College on September 6, at 5:00 pm at Steen Sports Park.
