PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon Tech remains winless in Cascade Collegiate Conference play after falling to Concordia University 3-0, (25-17, 25-20, 25-12) tonight at Cavalier Court in Portland.
Oregon Tech falls to even at 7-7 overall and will take a 0-2 CCC record to Warner Pacific on Saturday. Concordia, meanwhile, improved to 3-0 in the CCC standings and 5-4 on the season.
Oregon Tech found themselves down 12-6 early only to pull within three points, 13-10, behind Jennifer Saltenberger and Kristen Walters kills. That would be as close as the Owls would get as the Cavaliers would methodically pull away for a set 1 25-17 win.
After a 3-3 tie to begin the second set, CU would lead to the finish. Tech, again, was within striking distance at 14-16 thanks to a Kara Young kill and three-straight Cavalier hitting errors, but CU once again put the Owls away winning 25-20 in set 2.
After 7 ties to begin set 3 Oregon Tech took their first lead of the match at 10-9, but the lead would not last long as CU went on an 8-3 run to take control, 17-13. The Cavaliers would take the match after closing the set on a 8-2 burst to win 25-15.
Kara Young led the Tech offensive attack with a team-high 8 kills, followed by Kristen Walters with 6. Marie Baumann added 11digs to her season total while Megan Holland totaled 13 assists and Kayleigh Whelchel 7 in the loss for the Owls.
