Minor and Smith Lead Tech at Charles Bowles Invite

SALEM, Ore. — Scott Minor and Statia Smith led the Oregon Tech efforts Saturday at the Charles Bowles Invitational cross country meet. OIT competed in the Gold Division of the meet that included a division for mostly NCAA Division I and II teams.
Minor finished 91st in the men’s race for OIT, and covered the 8K course in 25 minutes, 59.45 seconds.
The meet marked the Tech debut of freshman Jed Tolbert, from Henley. He was one of three local high school grads to finish among the top four for the Hustlin’ Owls in the meet won by Southern Oregon.
Smith, meanwhile, was 114th in the women’s 5K race, and finished in 20:00.27. Amanda McMillan Katie Waugh were close behind.
The best finish among runners from the Klamath Basin was an 88th by Lakeview grad Talissa Baldovino, running for Eastern Oregon.
Among the other schools in the Gold Division were several members of the Cascade Collegiate Conference along with Point Loma Nazarene and Concordia of California, and Lewis-Clark State.
In the Cardinal Division were teams from the universities of Idaho, Portland, Oregon, Alaska-Anchorage, Cal-Riverside, Cal State-Chico, Portland State and Western Oregon.
Klamath Union grad Chris Reed, running for Western was 23rd overall and timed in 24:31.06.
