Owls begin strong, fall in four to Eastern

La Grande, Ore. – Oregon Tech had a chance to take the opening set, after taking Eastern Oregon to set point, but EOU would string together the final three points to gain momentum and take the opener 28-26.  Oregon Tech would eventually fall in four sets over the Mountaineers tonight in La Grande 28-26, 25-15, 22-25, 25-21.

 

 

Oregon Tech dropped to 10-12 overall and 2-8 in conference play, while EOU evened their overall mark to 10-10 and 6-4 in the conference standings.

 

 

Kristen Walters led the Owls with 12 kills with Megan Christensen following with eight of her own.  Sarah Svedin finished with six kills to go with 20 assists, while Christine Bansen, Mindy Rencher and Jennifer Saltenberger added five kills apiece.  Kayleigh Whelchel paced the Owl defense with 12 digs to go with her 18 assists, followed by Hannah Brewster with 11 digs.

 

 

Oregon Tech travels to College of Idaho tomorrow with the match set to begin at 6 pm PT.
