Alumni Game to Kickoff 27th Annual Blue-Gold Auction

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The Oregon Tech athletic department will be hosting a Hustlin’ Owl alumni basketball game to kickoff the “40 years of Hustlin’ Owl basketball” celebration, prior to the start of the 2010-11 basketball campaign. Former basketball players will return to Danny Miles Court this Saturday afternoon for a second reunion in the past six years. The alumni game will be free to the public and is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
The alumni festivities begin Friday, October 22nd at the Shilo Inn with a no-host bar beginning at 7:30 p.m., where fans can mingle with coaches and former players. Prior to the alumni game on Saturday, October 23rd, a breakfast will be served at the College Union beginning at 9:00 a.m. Breakfast is free to basketball alumni and their spouses. The weekend will culminate at the 27th annual Oregon Tech Blue-Gold auction, also held at the College Union on Saturday evening. The Auction begins at 4:30 p.m. and is the primary fundraiser for the Oregon Tech athletic department with all proceeds going to scholarships for Oregon Tech athletes.
The alumni game was spearheaded by former Oregon Tech sports information director and current radio broadcasting voice for Hustlin’ Owl basketball, Bobby Thompson, along with Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Pisan. In all, over 30 former Hustlin’ Owls will play in the alumni game with many others being in attendance watching from the stands.
All of the weekend's alumni activities are being held in conjunction to celebrate Oregon Tech Head Men’s Basketball Coach Danny Miles and his 40 years of coaching Hustlin’ Owl basketball. Miles currently ranks 4th on the all-time basketball wins list, with 906 victories, including NAIA DII National Championships in both 2004 and 2008.
