Lady Owls Clinch Playoff Spot with 2-1 Win

SALEM, Ore. - The Oregon Tech women's soccer team clinched the fourth seed in next weekend's Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament semifinals as they knocked of Corban college today 2-1. Oregon Tech finishes the regular season at 13-5-0, and 6-3-0 in the CCC with 18 points. Corban finishes just ahead of Tech in third place in the CCC with a final record of 9-6-2, and 6-2-1 in the CCC with 19 points. Oregon Tech will travel to Caldwell, Idaho and take on the No. 1-seed The College of Idaho next Saturday, October 31st, with game time scheduled for 12 Noon.
The Hustlin' Owls began the game's scoring at the 12:54 mark when Patti Degerness took a through ball from Katie O'Brien and slipped a shot passed a charging Warrior keeper for the early 1-0 lead.
Less then three minutes later, Corban answered when Rachel Cole hit a 20-yard shot into the lower right corner of the Tech goal.
In the final seconds of the first half, Oregon Tech put home the eventual game-winner as Andrea Perez redirected a Crystal Foster shot at the 44:38 mark. Foster began the scoring play with a high-arching shot that Corban's keeper attempted to save, but the ball squirted away for Perez to take advantage and put home the Owl's game-winner.
For the game, Corban had nine shots in each half for a total of 18 versus Tech's 15. Corner kicks also favored the home team 5-4. Tech however one the battle that matters the most that is goals scored 2-1.
Next Saturday, the CCC playoffs begin with No. 1 seed and regular season champions The College of Idaho hosting Oregon Tech at 12 Noon. Meanwhile, Concordia (No. 2 seed) will host Corban (No. 3 seed) in the Rose City with the game time still to be determined.
