11.01.2010

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Automatic bids to the 2010 NAIA Cross Country National Championship in Vancouver, Wash. will be up for grabs this weekend in Klamath Falls, Ore., as Oregon Tech will host the Cascade Collegiate Conference Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships this Saturday, November 6th.

The Meet will be held at the Steen Sports Park in Klamath Falls.  The men’s 8K event will begin at 11:00 AM, while the women’s 5K race takes off at 12:15 PM.  Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors.  Children five and under are free.

The Southern Oregon men come in as the NAIA’s top-ranked team (Oct. 27th poll) and will look to defend their Cascade Conference team title from 2009.  The Raiders, who have been dominant in all their appearances this season, are led by senior David Laney, a four-time CCC Runner of the Week.

In the most recent NAIA national rankings, three other CCC programs are also listed in the NAIA men’s top 25 – No. 11 College of Idaho, No. 16 Eastern Oregon University, and No. 23 Concordia University.

The College of Idaho women’s team comes into the weekend ranked sixth nationally (Oct. 27th poll), and will try to defend back-to-back CCC titles in 2008 and 2009.  Following closely in the latest national polls are Southern Oregon University in the eighth spot, Eastern Oregon University 17th and Concordia University ranked 21st.

The team champion in each race will earn the league's automatic bid to the NAIA Championships, which are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 20 at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Wash.
