Raider Men Fail To Work Up A Sweat In Win
Klamath Falls, Oregon (November 4, 2005) --- Preseason #2 Southern Oregon raced to a 20-to-7 advantage against overmatched Puget Sound Christian on the way to a 92-48 win in the opening game of the Midland Empire-Ohio Casualty Tournament Friday afternoon at Oregon Tech.
All-American Shea Washington scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds in only 21 minutes to pace the Raiders (1-0). Transfer Matt Espinoza (Southwestern Oregon CC) chipped in with 10 points.
Ashley Robinson and Terry Ayres tallied 15 and 13 points apiece for Puget Sound Christian (3-1). Ayers completed a double-double with a game high 10 rebounds.
Southern Oregon had a huge rebounding edge over the diminutive Anchormen 53-24. Washington was joined by Jeff Williams with nine boards.
The Raiders had only eight turnovers to Puget Sound Christians 18.
Southern Oregon will meet the winner of #4 Oregon Tech and Simpson University for the tournament championship Saturday evening at 8:00 p.m. Puget Sound Christian will play the loser of the Tech Simpson contest Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
