Oregon Tech Settles for 79-62 Win Over Multnomah

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech moved to 2-0 on the season with their second win in as many days over Multnomah University. The victory did not come as easy as last night, however, as the Owls defeated the Lions 79-62 this afternoon at Danny Miles Court.
After a 10-10 tie to begin the game, Oregon Tech went on a 13-0 run, looking to put the game away early. The Lions, however, were able to trade points with the Owls for the remainder of the half, as Tech took a 12 point lead, 35-23, into intermission. The Lions having scored almost as many points in today’s first half, 23, as the 26 point total from last night.
Multnomah would get the game to single digits, 37-29, with 17 minutes to play. The Owls then jumped out to a 19 point advantage, their largest of the game, but the Lions would not go away, trailing by 14 points with just under three minutes on the clock. A Tech 3-point field would close out the scoring, as the Owls moved on to a 79-62 victory.
The Owls were led in scoring by Joseph Foster’s team-high 23 points on 9-of-17 from the floor. Foster added four assists and five rebounds in the victory. Kyle Gomez finished with 13 points, while Mihajilo Matic added nine. Tech’s David Clarke finished the day with a game-high seven assists to go with six points and five boards.
Gian Cook netted a game-high 25 points for Multnomah to go with his six rebounds, while Mike Woodard followed with 12 points and Chris Haynes 10.
Oregon Tech takes to the road for two games at the William Jessup Invitation in Rocklin, Calif. this weekend, beginning with a game Friday against host WJU and Saturday versus Cal Baptist University. Both games can be heard live in the Klamath Basin on 92.5 FM KLAD.
