Tech's Humberston Makes Third-Straight Appearance at 2009 NAIA Cross Country National Championships

Korey Humberston will be making a third-straight appearance at the NAIA national meet held in Vancouver, Wash. on Saturday, Novemeber 21st.

The national races will be held at Fort Vancouver Historic Site in Vancouver, Wash., on Nov. 21

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the qualifiers for the 54th Annual Men's and 30th Annual Women's NAIA Cross Country National Championships. The national races will be held at Fort Vancouver Historic Site in Vancouver, Wash., on Nov. 21. The men's 8K will start at 10:30 a.m. PST, with the women's 5K to follow at 11:45 a.m. PST.

Oregon Tech junior Korey Humberston will be making a third-straight NAIA national championship appearance for the Owls. In 2007 Humberston was the Cascade Conference individual champion, placed 16th at the Region I meet and finished 110th at the national championship held in Kenosha, Wis. In 2008 Humberston placed 6th at the Cascade Conference meet and 52nd at the NAIA championships. Humberston received an at-large berth to this year's NAIA national meet after placing 7th at the CCC, covering the 8K course in 25:09.

Oregon Tech will send no runners from the women's side in 2009.

The Men's 8K race will also welcome 32 teams, including 23 conference/independent/unaffiliated champion, eight at-large bids and 102 individual qualifiers. Malone (Ohio) will look to claim its third-consecutive men's national title. The past two seasons the Pioneers have won by 57 and 143 points, respectively.

Thirty-two teams, including 25 conference/independent/unaffiliated champions, six at-large bids and 117 individual qualifiers, will run in the women's 5K.
