Oregon Tech Opens Home Campaign with Win Over William Jessup

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Oregon Tech women’s basketball team turned an early deficit into a 32-17 lead at the half on the way to a 63-49 victory over William Jessup University in day 2 of the Midland Empire Insurance Classic tonight at Danny Miles Court.

It is the second win over William Jessup as the Owls move to 5-1 overall on the season.  Oregon Tech will next travel to Ashland where they play Warner University, Fla. on Friday at 1:30 PM in the Southern Oregon Classic Tournament.  Saturday the Owls will go up against Cal-Maritime of the Cal Pac Conference beginning at 1:30 PM.

Rebekah Matteri, coming off the bench for Tech, netted a team-high 11 points and grabbed four rebounds.  Kassi Conditt was a rebound shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine boards, while Kiana Caban also notched 10 points in the win for Tech.

Cassie Davidson took game-high honors with 17 points to go with four rebounds.  Alyssa Wright scored nine points, followed by Brittany Smith with six points in the loss for the Warriors.

After shooting 50% in the first half, the Owls cooled off in the second stanza, shooting 34% for the game on 17-of-50.  The Owls held a 51-30 advantage on the boards, hit 28-for-37 at the free throw line, while holding the visiting Warriors to just 28.8% shooting.
