Owls Cold From Floor, Fall 70-62

ASHLAND, Ore. – Fresno Pacific University held Oregon Tech to just 25% shooting, as the Owls fell by a 70-62 score in game 1 of the Flagship Inn Classic hosted by Southern Oregon University. 

 

Ninth-ranked Oregon Tech falls to 6-2 on the season and will face Cal Pac opponent William Jessup University tomorrow, in day 2 of the Flagship Inn Classic, beginning at 5:30 PM.

 

Oregon Tech’s Joseph Foster scored a game-high 28 points to go with four rebounds and two assists, while teammate Kyle Gomez recorded a double-double 11 points and 13 rebounds, while adding four assists in the loss.  Brent Johnson added eight points and seven rebounds, while Matt Smith and Mihaljo Matic combined for 11 points.

 

It took the Owls almost six minutes to score, but it took just four more minutes to take a double digit lead, as Oregon Tech led by 11 points at the midway point of the first period. 

 

Fresno Pacific, however, would tie the contest and eventually take a 30-27 advantage to intermission.

 

In the second period a Joseph Foster triple gave Oregon Tech a 41-40 advantage with just over 15 minutes to play, but the Owls would never lead again.

 

After a 44-44 tie, a Fresno Pacific eight point run would not be matched.  The Owls would climb to within two points with five minutes remaining, 56-54, but FPU would eventually move on to the 70-62 win.
