Oregon Tech Sits at No. 6 in First Regular-Season NAIA DII Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Oregon Tech slipped two spots from the preseason poll and sits at No. 6 in the 2011 - 12 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, announced Monday by the national office. Oregon Tech will take an 8-1 mark into the Cascade Conference league opener this weekend when the Owls host Corban University Friday and Northwest Christian Saturday. 

Indiana Wesleyan becomes the new No. 1 team in the Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, replacing Preseason No. 1 Northwood (Fla.) with seven first-place votes and 367 total points. This top billing is Indiana Wesleyan's first in the history of Division II polls dating back to the 1991-92 season.

Following Indiana Wesleyan in the top five is second-ranked Northwood with 358 points and five first-place votes. No. 3 Davenport (Mich.) captured the remaining three first-place nods and 357 points. Grace (Ind.) and Dordt (Iowa) were two of the biggest movers this week as the Lancers improved five spots to No. 4 and Dordt slid up 11 positions to No. 5.

Three other members of the CCC rank among the top-25, including Northwest University moving to the No. 13 position and Warner Pacific College at No. 17.  Slipping to No. 21 was Eastern Oregon University.

No. 6  Oregon Tech, Oklahoma Wesleyan and former NAIA member Walsh (Ohio) have posted 12 mentions at No. 1 with the Hustlin’ Owls listed with the longest active streak in the Top-25 at 77-straight weeks.  The last time Oregon Tech was not ranked was on Jan. 11, 2005.
