Beard Signs on With Oregon Tech

12.02.2011

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Oregon Tech head men’s basketball coach, Dan Miles, announced recently that Bryan Beard of Pendleton, Ore. signed a letter-of-intent to join the Hustlin’ Owls for the 2012-13 season.  Beard is currently a senior at Pendleton High School.

The 6-foot-10 post averaged 8.3 points, 9.4 rebounds and 4.2 blocks his junior season at PHS on his way to setting a Buckaroo all-time school-record with 110 blocked shots in a season. Most recently Beard was named to the second-team all-conference football team as both a defensive end and tight end.

“Bryan is an outstanding student-athlete and young man and we are very excited to have him at Oregon Tech,” said Miles.  “He has matured physically and gained a lot of confidence over the past year and should have a standout senior season this year at Pendleton.”

Bryan is the son of Pat Beard and Tom and Leslie Lovell.

Perennial powerhouse, Oregon Tech, is off to an 8-1 start to the season and currently is ranked No. 6 in the first addition of the 2011-12 NAIA DII National Coaches Poll. The Hustlin’ Owls won the NAIA Division II National Championship in both 2004 and 2008, including “Sweet 16” appearances at the NAIA national tournament the past three seasons.
