KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The 2011 Oregon Tech softball team is hoping for some mild weather when the Owls open the 2011 campaign in Redding, Calif. on Saturday, February 12th.
In another tough start to the Oregon Tech softball schedule, the Owls face two Golden State Athletic Conference power teams, along with Cal Pac member Menlo College to begin the season. The Owls open up with sixth-ranked Concordia Irvine–California, followed by Biola University and cap off the tripleheader with the Oaks of Menlo College.
Oregon Tech’s 49-game spring schedule includes 16 home contests, beginning with a conference doubleheader versus No. 4 ranked Concordia University on Friday, March 18th and then Oregon Tech will host rival Southern Oregon on Tuesday, March 23rd to begin league action.
The 2010 softball team finished the season with their seventh consecutive winning season, as the Owls went 25-25 overall, while finishing fourth in the conference standings with a 12-12 mark.
Tech replaces just one senior and will return three first team all-conference players – and six starters overall. Oregon Tech was picked second in the Cascade Conference preseason coach’s poll, and is expected to fight for a conference championship in 2011 after adding NCAA D1 standout pitcher, Jackie Imhof, and first base slugger Janelle Cromie to the mix.
