Oregon Tech Fall 2009 Scholar-Athletes Announced

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. ---Oregon Tech landed eight fall sport athletes on the 2009 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes list, announced this week by the NAIA national office.
Adrienne Busch (Grants Pass, Ore.), Mackenzie Garton (Milton-Freewater, Ore.), Sarah Ziegler (Ruch, Ore.), Katie O'Brien (Jacksonville, Ore.) and Janie Bennett (Grants Pass, Ore.) helped lead the Oregon Tech women's soccer team to a school-record 13 wins in 2009, and the team's fourth-straight postseason appearance. Salvador Garcia (Klamath Falls, Ore.) was the lone selection, and the men's soccer team's first ever selection, to the NAIA scholar team.
Both Rachel Novak (Keno, Ore.) and Amber Sinicrope (Kirkland, Wash.) were also named, and helped lead the Oregon Tech women's cross country team to an eighth place finish at the Cascade Conference championships. Sinicrope was the 21st place finisher, while Novak was 46th overall.
Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.
