Oregon Tech Shoots Way Past Johnson & Wales

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Kyle Gomez scored 28 first half points on his way to a game-high 33 to lead fifth-rated Oregon Tech past Johnson & Wales University 124-87 tonight in non-conference basketball action at Danny Miles Court.
Oregon Tech improved to 11-1 overall, while Johnson & Wales drops to 3-10 on the season. The two teams will play again tomorrow in what will be the last game played on the old Oregon Tech basketball floor.
Oregon Tech hit 10 first half 3-pointer field goals as the Owls built a comfortable 24 point half time lead, 65-41.
Coming out of intermission, Oregon Tech went up by 30 and methodically pulled away over the next 15 minutes to win by a 124-87 final
Gomez finished 13-for-16 from the floor, including 6-of-7 from long range on his way to game-high honors. Bobby Hunter was 10-of-13 from the floor as the freshman recorded 28 points. Jason Gamblin added 18 points and seven rebounds, while Scotty Riddled netted 10 points and handed out seven assists in the Owls win.
Jake Campbell led the visitors with a team-high 23 points while Chris O’Neal scored 12 and Cody Danner 11 in the loss.
Tech finished the night hitting 15-of-25 from long range, along with a 62% effort from the floor (49-for-79). JWU shot 55% overall, hitting 11-for-23 from the 3-point line, with the Owls holding a 38-to-24 advantage on the boards.
