Oregon Tech Defense Ties Up Cal Maritime

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech had five players finish in double figures, and held Cal Maritime to just 33% shooting, as the Lady Owls took down the Keelhaulers by a 78-59 final to conclude the Yellow Cab Classic tonight at Danny Miles Court.

 

Kassi Conditt and Crissy Watts led all scorers with 15 points each, followed by Brittany Cherry with 14.  Condit, Cherry and Aundrea Albright tied with game-high honors after grabbing nine rebounds apiece, with Albright also adding 12 points for the Owls in tonight’s win.  Morgan Hofman netted 11 points to go with five assists.

 

Oregon Tech took command early, scoring the games first seven points, and with 13:45 on the clock the Owls took their first double digit lead of the game at 16-6.  The Owls moved out to a 16 point advantage in the first period, before taking a 37-25 lead into the half.

 

With 13:37 remaining in the contest the Owls held a comfortable 44-34 advantage, but Cal Maritime mounted a comeback, and with under 12 minutes to play cut the OIT lead to just 46-43.

 

After a quick timeout the Owls came out with an 18-4 run, capped by an Aundrea Albright jumper, to put the game out of reach with just over six minutes to play.  Oregon Tech would eventually conclude the Yellow Cab Classic with a 78-59 win.

 

Oregon Tech held a decisive advantage on the boards, outrebounding their opponent 49-28.  The Owls connected on 51.8% from the floor, including 6-of-14 from long range, while finishing the game with 27 assists.

 

Oregon Tech moves to 8-6 on the season and will resume Cascade Conference play this weekend when the Owls host College of Idaho on Friday and Eastern Oregon University this Saturday.  The men tip off at 5:30 PM, while the women follow at 7:30 PM.
