Oregon Tech Men’s Basketball Earns 'Conference Team of the Week' Honors
12.19.2011
PORTLAND, Ore. – The third-ranked Oregon Tech men’s basketball team, which defeated College of Idaho and No. 23 Eastern Oregon in road games last weekend, has earned the CCC’s Verizon Team of the Week award, the conference office announced Monday.
The Hustlin’ Owls improved their season record to 14-1 and their conference mark to 4-0 by defeating College of Idaho 68-59 and Eastern Oregon 81-71. Tech ran its win streak to 11 straight, and has taken over sole possession of first place in the CCC standings.
OIT was led by redshirt freshman guard Bobby Hunter, who was named the CCC Red Lion Player of the Week after averaging 22 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He had a career-best 30 points in OIT’s victory over EOU.
“It’s nice being recognized as the Verizon Team of the week by the conference,” said veteran coach Danny Miles. “Winning one game on this road trip is very tough. The kids played outstanding basketball and we were fortunate to pick up two wins.” With the two victories, Miles now has recorded 951 wins in his career.
Tech is idle until Dec. 29, when it resumes CCC play by hosting Warner Pacific Dec. 29 in Klamath Falls.
